Compaq StorageWorks 4/8 GB DAT Drives
This announcement is a relaunch of the Compaq DAT Family to reset expectation on capacity and to introduce new features. These drives have been renamed to use a naming convention consistent with other Compaq Tape drives. We have also added new capabilities that provide greater durability and reliability for servers with up to 8 GB in size. The 4/8-GB DAT drive incorporates a new enhanced internal tape head cleaning mechanism which extends the time between head cleanings, reduces errors in reading and writing tape, and extends the life of the tape drive itself. Even 'dirty' tapes can now be read more reliably. The 4/8-GB DAT drive offers an additional feature of a 25% faster data transfer rate.
